Rangareddy: A report regarding government school teachers in Rangareddy district bunking off duties without prior permission was confirmed when the District Educational Officer issued show-cause notices to around 70 teachers for failing to record attendance through the Facial Recognition System over the past month.

Official records reveal that DEO S Venkateswarlu served show-cause notices to 68 teachers across state-run schools after discovering lapses during a routine department review.

Recording daily attendance via FRS remains a mandatory procedural requirement across government educational institutions in Telangana.

Education officials identified errant staff after reviewing monthly digital logs, leading the DEO to issue notices as a deterrent against negligence. The DEO directed affected teachers to submit explanations detailing reasons for their failure to log attendance through FRS last month, adding that disciplinary action will follow in accordance with service rules upon evaluating responses.

Venkateswarlu clarified that regular monitoring of teacher presence, teaching methodology, and student learning levels will continue continuously, warning that regulatory action will be initiated against staff neglecting digital attendance protocols. Reiterating that every teacher must report on time and complete FRS entry without fail, he emphasized that no indulgence will be extended regarding discipline, punctuality, or instruction quality.

Meanwhile, Rangareddy District Collector C Narayana Reddy instructed the District Treasury Officer to release teacher salaries strictly based on FRS attendance records.

Officials confirmed that linking remuneration to digital entries aims to enforce stronger accountability, attendance compliance, and operational discipline across all public schools state-wide.
