Hyderabad: Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said the issue concerning BRS MLC Tata Madhu’s remarks would be taken up in the Assembly and a resolution passed on Tuesday. He said the resolution would subsequently be forwarded to the Legislative Council for further action.
The Speaker made the remarks during an informal interaction on Monday, expressing his distress over the alleged objectionable comments made by Madhu. Prasad Kumar said the comments were deeply distressing and had caused considerable pain. Recalling the emotional scenes in the Assembly, he said he was particularly moved when Minister Seethakka broke down in tears while speaking on the issue.
The Speaker said Seethakka had been tying a Rakhi to him for the past five years, reflecting their close personal bond. He said seeing her in tears during the proceedings deeply affected him and that he too became emotional and involuntarily shed tears while she was speaking.
The Speaker maintained that the dignity of the constitutional office and the decorum of the legislature must be protected. He indicated that the matter would be dealt with through the appropriate legislative process.
