Hyderabad: Telangana is set to expand its Agricultural Mechanisation Scheme for the 2026–27 fiscal year with a fresh outlay of Rs 147.99 crore, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced on Thursday.
Reviewing progress, Nageswara Rao stated that the Congress-led administration revived the project during 2025–26, utilising Rs 63 crore of the initial Rs 71 crore allocation. The State has aligned local and Central funds to support this upcoming phase and currently awaits final operational guidelines from the Union government. Officials received strict instructions to launch beneficiary selection immediately upon receiving Central directives to avoid distribution delays. To protect farmer choice and foster market competition, Nageswara Rao emphasised that beneficiaries will not face restriction to specific manufacturers or designated dealers. Instead, farmers can procure equipment from any empanelled supplier. Subsidies will be credited directly to bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer, allowing cultivators to evaluate prices freely across vendors to secure optimal market rates for machinery.
