TGCSB to hold 2-km night walk against cyber fraud
HYDERABAD: In an effort to create awareness about preventing cybercrime, the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) will conduct a 2-km night walk under the theme “HYDERABAD HITS PAUSE – Walk. Pause. Light up against cyber fraud” at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road, on October 1.
TGCSB Director Shikha Goel said the bureau was organising a month-long awareness campaign on “Digital Safety for Families” and would begin the campaign with “CYBER SECURITY FLASH – PAUSE FOR SAFETY”, a 2-km night walk aimed at creating greater public awareness about cyber fraud and encouraging citizens to adopt safer digital habits.
The walk will also mark the launch of a month-long series of cyber security awareness activities to be undertaken across Telangana as part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
She said the initiative was built around the simple message: “PAUSE. THINK. VERIFY.” In an increasingly digital world, cyber fraudsters often create a sense of urgency through calls, messages, suspicious links, fake customer-care numbers and other deceptive communications.
The campaign encourages citizens to pause, verify the source and think carefully before clicking on links, sharing information or making payments, highlighting the “Power of Pause” as a simple but effective habit for safer digital behaviour.
The 2-km night walk will bring together citizens from different sections of society, including students, young people, families, professionals, senior citizens and community groups.
Through collective participation, the TGCSB aims to take the message of cyber awareness beyond the event and into homes, educational institutions, workplaces and communities.
