Hyderabad: A special food safety enforcement drive in LB Nagar led to the suspension of FSSAI licences for nine eateries after joint inspections by Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs teams and police personnel. Officials inspected 20 food establishments, uncovering major safety violations including unhygienic kitchens, pest infestations, spoiled and expired ingredients, improper storage practices, poor food handler hygiene, and deficient record keeping.

Inspectors proposed improvement notices for four establishments and show-cause notices for seven others. Authorities directed nine non-compliant eateries to halt operations immediately while collecting 20 suspected food samples for laboratory analysis to detect potential adulteration or contamination. All unsafe and contaminated food items were destroyed on site. At Bahar Biryani Cafe in Dilsukhnagar, officials discovered nearly 50 kg of rotten and stale meat, including chicken, mutton, and prawns, alongside expired ingredients, resulting in immediate licence suspension and operational closure.

The eight other suspended establishments include Hotel Sangeeth Grand Restaurant and Bar, Balaji Pheni and Namkeen, Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries, Hotel Sindhura East Court, Chemistry Bar and Kitchen, New Limra Hotel, N Village Multicuisine Restaurant in Champapet, and Hotel Kinara Grand Restaurant and Bar in Vanasthalipuram. Reported violations across these venues included cockroach and rodent infestations, expired products, and improper storage.

Meanwhile, improvement notices were issued to Ramakrishna Oil Mill, Green Land Dhaba, Kefi Cafe, and One Lounge Bar and Kitchen.
