The accident occurred when lighting poles suddenly collapsed during the event, triggering panic among students.
The incident took place at MVSR Engineering College in Nadergul in the city on Saturday. One student, identified as Sony from Wanaparthy, reportedly died in the mishap, while several others suffered injuries.
The injured students were shifted to private hospitals in LB Nagar and Adibatla for treatment.
