CI Karunakar Saves Children Found Begging On Streets

Karimnagar: In a humane gesture, Jagtial Town Circle Inspector Karunakar took pity on two child hood stage children found begging on the roadside along with their parents and promised support for their education.

Karunakar was coming to work and saw children begging near Tahsil Chowrasta. Seeing this he got worried and instead of passing them he stopped his vehicle and came to them.

He spoke to the children in a friendly way to find out their situation and told them, “Would you like to study? I will help you with your education. The children smiled in relief.

The CI ordered an auto and saw that they were taken to a safe place when the children said they were ready to go with him. He then contacted the district child protection services and took steps to ensure that the children’s safety, welfare and education were adequately addressed.

The incident has been praised locally for the officer’s approach to look beyond the immediate issue of street begging and focus on the future of the children.

The intervention has also pointed to the need to connect children found begging with the appropriate child protection and welfare services, so that they can return to their studies and grow up in a safe environment.
