History of Sept 17 must be preserved: Nelluri
Khammam: BJP district president Nelluri Koteswara Rao highlighted the significance of September 17 and called for preserving the history of the struggle associated with the integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union.Speaking after paying tributes to martyrs at the party district office on Thursday, Rao said the sacrifices of those who fought against the feudal rule should be remembered and conveyed to future generations. He hailed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s role and Operation Polo as significant in the events leading to the integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union in 1948.
Meanwhile, Rao criticised the Congress and BRS over their differing positions on the nomenclature and historical interpretation of September 17. He urged that the sacrifices and struggles associated with the period be studied and presented to future generations without limiting the discussion to political differences. A blood donation camp was organised by BJYM as part of the observance. BJP leaders and workers participated.
