Rs 40K cr spent on road devpt across TG: Komatireddy

Thipparthi (Nalgonda): “Thegovernment is giving priority to improving road infrastructure,” Roads and Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said on Thursday. He said Rs 40,000 crore was being spent on R&B and Panchayat Raj roads across Telangana.

The Minister laid the foundation stone for widening and strengthening the road from Madugulapally to Tippalammagudem X Roads via Cheruvupally in Madugulapally mandal of Nalgonda district at a cost of Rs 35 crore. Addressing a meeting later, Venkat Reddy said the government was constructing double-lane roads from mandal headquarters to district headquarters, besides improving road connectivity between villages and mandal centres.

He said a 220 KV substation had been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 200 crore to prevent power-related problems in Tipparthi and Madugulapally mandals in view of El Niño conditions. He also announced that the foundation stone for the Pusalapadu road would be laid on September 20.

He announced that 25 Indiramma houses would be sanctioned to Cheruvupally this year and another 50 next year.

Speaking to the media later, the Minister said tenders had been completed for first-phase road works worth Rs 110 crore in Thipparthi and Madugulapally mandals. He said HAM and non-HAM roads worth Rs 26,000 crore were being developed under the R&B Department across the State.

The Minister said the Outer Ring Road project in Nalgonda town, including dividers and central lighting, would be completed within six months.
