Kurnool: Demonstrating high clinical expertise and expanding super-specialty capabilities, doctors at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Kurnool have successfully performed two complex and rare surgeries using advanced thoracoscopic and laparoscopic techniques.
The minimal-access procedures were performed on two male patients presenting with critical medical conditions. In the first case, a 52-year-old man named Iqbal Basha, hailing from Adoni, underwent an advanced thoracoscopic surgery to repair a complex diaphragmatic hernia.
In the second case, Masoom Miya, a 32-year-old resident of Gudur who sustained life-threatening spleen injuries in a road traffic accident, successfully underwent a laparoscopic splenectomy. Medical authorities confirmed that both patients recovered satisfactorily following the successful interventions.
The surgical procedures were conducted by a specialized team under the supervision of Surgery Department Professor Dr Ramakrishna Naik. Key contributions were made by Associate Professor Dr Sabira, Assistant Professors Dr Praneeth and Dr Prashanthi, alongside postgraduate doctors Dr Manoj, Dr Teja, Dr Anchal, and Dr Somashekar.
The critical anaesthesia management was provided by a team led by Professor Dr Ram Shiva Naik, Associate Professor Dr Murali Prabhakar, and Assistant Professors Dr Sudheer and Dr Shiva.
Department of Surgery Head Dr Haricharan and Kurnool GGH Superintendent Dr Venkateswarlu warmly commended the surgical and anaesthetic teams for their flawless execution. Hospital authorities emphasized that successfully carrying out such high-end laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures at a government teaching institution reaffirms Kurnool GGH’s dedication to providing quality, advanced medical care free of cost to underprivileged and middle-class patients.
