KMC gears up to print 10 lakh ballot papers
Kurnool: The Additional Election Authority and Kurnool Municipal Corporation Commissioner Challa Obulesu on Monday directed officials to establish foolproof arrangements for printing nearly 10 lakh ballot papers required for the upcoming municipal elections.
Inspecting printing presses in the Old Bus Stand and New Bus Stand areas, Commissioner Obulesu reviewed the printing progress and security measures, stressing that utmost precision must be maintained to ensure error-free printing while protecting the confidentiality of the electoral process.
Addressing press operators at the Municipal Corporation meeting hall in SBI Employees Colony, Obulesu stated that the Kurnool Municipal Corporation comprises 4,79,861 registered voters.
Since each elector will cast one vote for the mayoral candidate and another for the corporator candidate, nearly ten lakh ballot papers are required, including a 10 percent buffer allocated for polling stations.
He instructed operators to maintain strict vigilance to prevent any technical or typographical errors. Emphasizing security, the Civic Chief instructed authorities to prohibit unauthorized entry into press premises, deploy police personnel, install CCTV cameras, and erect barricades around printing units for continuous surveillance.
He ordered uninterrupted printing operations until completion, with counting, bundle storage, and transit strictly adhering to State Election Commission (SEC) protocols.
Later, Obulesu inspected the designated counting center at Athena School and reviewed logistics for distributing polling material to presiding officers on the eve of elections, directing team leaders to ensure full compliance with updated SEC directives.
