Kurnool: A major fire broke out at Venkatalakshmi Silk, a clothing store located in the Main Bazaar of Alur town in Kurnool district, causing extensive property damage estimated at around Rs 3 crore.

The fire reportedly erupted following an electrical short circuit, sending thick smoke billowing through the premises and triggering panic among traders, shop owners, and local residents in the busy commercial area.

Upon receiving alerts, fire personnel rushed to the scene with a fire engine and launched intensive operations to bring the raging blaze under control. As the flames intensified, firefighters worked diligently to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring commercial establishments.

Demonstrating community solidarity, local residents also joined the firefighting efforts, deploying a water tanker to help douse the flames.

Preliminary estimates place the financial losses at approximately Rs 3 crore, although the exact extent is yet to be officially ascertained. The incident has heightened safety concerns among merchants in the Main Bazaar, where numerous commercial buildings are situated close together.
