Kumuram Bheem Asifabad: District Collector K Haritha has urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural technologies and scientific farming practices to increase yields while reducing cultivation costs. She was speaking after inaugurating a Kisan Mela organised by the Agriculture Department at Premala Gardens in Asifabad on Thursday, along with Asifabad MLA Kova Lakshmi and Sirpur MLA Palvai Harish Babu.
The Collector advised farmers to select crops according to changing climatic conditions, rainfall, soil characteristics and water availability. She stressed the importance of quality seeds, soil testing, balanced fertiliser use and effective pest management.
Highlighting water conservation and crop diversification, she said paddy cultivation in the district had been reduced by 25 per cent. Farmers were also encouraged to grow less water-intensive crops during the Yasangi season. Officials and farmers attended the event.
