KADA Project Director Vikas Marmat, an IAS officer, has been transferred to GAD after Cubbon Park police registered a case against him over a Bengaluru pub incident.

Tirupati: A late-night incident at a Bengaluru pub has led to the transfer of Vikas Marmat, Project Director of the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA), after police registered a case against him and three others.
The state government transferred Marmat, a 2019-batch IAS officer, and directed him to report to the General Administration Department. Marmat reportedly visited a pub on Residency Road in Bengaluru with three friends on the intervening night of October 9 and 10.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Cubbon Park police station during a city-wide inspection of pubs, bars and restaurants. According to reports, the group remained at the pub beyond its closing time.
When police personnel conducting the inspection questioned those present, Marmat allegedly identified himself as an IAS officer and responded aggressively when asked to show his identity card. He allegedly assaulted police personnel on duty.
The Cubbon Park police filed a case against Marmat and his three friends, Abhay Uday Singh, Nitish and Roshan, based on a complaint by Police Inspector Arun Salunke.
The case was registered under several provisions of the BNS, including Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation, Section 352 for intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of peace, Section 132 for assault or use of criminal force against a public servant to prevent the discharge of duty, and Section 133 for assault or use of criminal force with the intent to dishonour a person.
Marmat was named as the prime accused. Following the controversy, the state government issued orders transferring Marmat and directing him to report to the GAD. The government also directed Chittoor District Collector Sumit Kumar to make necessary arrangement to the post of the KADA Project Director.
