Congress govt giving priority to women empowerment: Balu Naik
Devarakonda ( Nalgonda): MLA Nenavath Balu Naik said the Congress government was giving special priority to empowering women and enabling them to progress economically and socially in all spheres.
The MLA inaugurated newly constructed Mahila Samakya (VO) buildings at Sheripally and Ratya Thanda villages in Devarakonda mandal on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Balu Naik said women had earlier faced several difficulties due to the lack of proper facilities to conduct meetings of women’s self-help groups. After the Congress government assumed office, it had been providing women with due recognition and strengthening women’s groups by creating the necessary infrastructure, he said.
The government was implementing several programmes aimed at women’s welfare and economic empowerment, including free travel for women on RTC buses under the Mahalakshmi scheme, LPG cylinders for Rs.500 and strengthening self-help groups to promote financial self-reliance among women, he said.
After inaugurating the buildings, MLA Balu Naik extensively toured the villages and interacted directly with residents. He enquired about various basic infrastructure problems, including roads, drinking water supply and drainage facilities. He directed the concerned officials to take the issues faced by villagers to their notice and ensure that they were resolved on a priority basis. The MLA assured residents that necessary funds would be secured for the development of the villages and that the problems would be addressed in a phased manner.
