HRD minister Nara Lokesh unveils party founder and former chief minister N T Rama Rao’s statue at Buchireddypalem in Nellore district on Wednesday
Nellore: HRD and IT minister Nara Lokesh called upon TDP cadres to target a clean sweep in the upcoming local body elections across Nellore district by highlighting the development and welfare initiatives taken by the coalition government over the past two-and-a-half years.
During his one-day tour of district on Wednesday, Lokesh unveiled a bronze statue of former chief minister and TDP founder N T Rama Rao at Buchireddypalem in the presence of Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy and TDP district president Beeda Ravichandra Yadav. He later addressed a meeting of party workers at Buchireddypalem.
Lokesh cautioned party leaders and activists to remain alert, alleging that the YSRCP could resort to various tactics to influence the elections. Referring to the ‘kodi kathi’ and ‘gulaka rayi’ incidents, he alleged that the YSRCP had earlier attempted to gain public sympathy through such controversies.
He also recalled the 2019 campaign surrounding the murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy and the allegations against TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. Lokesh pointed out that YSRCP MP Y S Avinash Reddy was recently questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the ongoing investigation.
On DSC-2025, Lokesh termed YSRCP allegations baseless and challenged YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to an open debate on the issue.
Recalling that TDP had won the Kovur Assembly seat eight times, Lokesh urged party workers to maintain the same spirit and work together in the local body elections.
