Nellore: Police on Wednesday arrested three persons allegedly involved in the murder of a 29-year-old man in Vinduru village of Gudur mandal. The accused were identified as D Mahendra (19), P Kamesh (20) and K Venkateswarlu (25), all residents of Vinduru village.
According to police, Sheik Shahul (29) of the same village was found murdered on the first floor of Zilla Parishad High School building on August 1. Following a complaint by the deceased’s family, Gudur Rural CI Kishore Babu, along with Gudur Town CIs, launched a probe using scientific evidence, digital analysis, CCTV footage, technical intelligence and field inquiries. Investigators found that Shahul had a habit of consuming alcohol and allegedly abusing villagers with foul language. He had also reportedly behaved indecently towards a woman while intoxicated.
On July 31 night, Shahul was sitting near Padamatamma temple after drinking. The three accused, also under the influence of alcohol, questioned him and assaulted him. A heated exchange followed, after which they stabbed him with lethal weapons and fled. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the trio on the outskirts of the village on Wednesday.
