Coalition parties work on seat-sharing: Purandeswari

Rajamahendravaram: Rajamahendravaram MP Daggubati Purandeswari said the three parties in the coalition government would move forward with mutual coordination in the forthcoming local body elections and work together on seat allocation.

Speaking to the media at BJP office in Rajamahendravaram on Sunday, Purandeswari said there was no fixed formula for seat sharing among the alliance partners and that the process would be based on coordination and mutual understanding. She said BJP State president Madhav had already taken part in discussions at the State level on the issue. She said strengthening the BJP in the state, particularly in the local body elections, remained an important objective for the party.

At the same time, the MP said the coalition government was proceeding with collective decisions rather than allowing individual political interests to affect its functioning.

She said the BJP had decided to install 100 party flags at 100 locations in the city as part of efforts to expand the party’s organisational presence.

Purandeswari said people were closely observing the performance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed satisfaction over the Centre’s support for the development of the State. The Centre was extending full cooperation for the construction of the Amaravati capital and Polavaram projects, she said.

The MP said the BJP took pride in explaining to the people the assistance being extended by the Centre for the State’s development. Unlike political parties that generally work with the objective of gaining power, the BJP was committed to serving people, she said.

Responding to questions on pollution from the paper mill issue in Rajamahendravaram, Purandeswari said Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan was aware of the measures required to recover penalties and taxes from the paper mill.

The Minister concerned and the Deputy CM would take appropriate action in the matter, she said.
