Tirumala: TTD is taking special measures to enhance greenery in Tirumala and protect biodiversity and wildlife of Seshachalam forest region, said TTD Forest Range Officer Doraswamy.
Addressing the media in Tirumala on Thursday along with DRO Madhusudhan, he said red sanders, sandalwood and medicinal plants are being nurtured in Tirumala forest area.
He further said that Nakshatra Vanams are being developed at Paruveta Mandapam, while greening works are under way along ghat roads of Alipiri and Srivari Mettu footpath routes. Flowering and fragrant plants are being raised at Vaikuntam Queue Complex-1, GNC Tollgate, Alipiri and other areas to provide a pleasant ambience for devotees. Wildlife movement, particularly leopard activity, is being monitored round the clock by TTD forest staff.
The Forest Range Officer said that CCTV, trap and solar cameras, along with drones, are being used for surveillance.
Plastic has been banned in Seshachalam forest area to protect biodiversity and wildlife.
He advised devotees not to carry plastic bottles or covers into forest zones or else strict action will be taken against violators.
Doraswami also appealed to devotees not to feed monkeys and other wild animals along ghat roads, as it alters their natural feeding habits and disturbs ecological balance.
