Vijayawada: Around 400 students from government, aided and private schools across the state participated in state-level painting and elocution competitions organised by the school education department as part of the Central government’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan at Haailand in Mangalagiri, Guntur district, on Friday.
The competitions saw 200 students each participate in painting and elocution, providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity, communication skills and ideas on service and social responsibility.
The events aimed to encourage students to develop a spirit of service, social awareness and a sense of responsibility towards society. While the painting competition enabled students to express their ideas through art, the elocution contest helped them articulate their views and improve their public-speaking skills.
Director of school education Thameem Ansariya A, director of textbooks Madhusudhan, and programme coordinator and state-level training coordinator Vijaya Durga attended the programme.
Addressing the students, Thameem Ansariya appreciated their talent and said extracurricular activities such as painting and public speaking, alongside academics, helped build confidence and independent thinking. She urged students to understand societal needs, cultivate the habit of helping others from an early age, identify their interests, set clear goals and work consistently to achieve their aspirations.
Cash prizes and merit certificates were presented to winners across five categories, while all participants received certificates of participation. School education department officials, teachers and students from various districts attended the programme.
