More attractions added to Swachhathon-2026

Vijayawada: Swachhathon-2026 will be organised in a more attractive manner on October 2 to mark Gandhi Jayanti, said Swachh Andhra Corporation Chairman Kommaredy Pattabhiram. Speaking to members of Amaravati Runners and Vijayawada Runners who participated in the Swachhathon-2026 Promo Run on Bandar Road on Sunday morning, Pattabhiram said the event would serve as the opening programme of Vijayawada Utsav being organised to celebrate Vijaya Dasami. The marathon would convey a strong message on cleanliness and greenery across the State, he said.

He said the route of Swachhathon-2026 had been redesigned to pass through several iconic landmarks, including the Ambedkar statue, RTC Bus Stand, Kanaka Durga Temple, Prakasam Barrage, Amaravati Seed Axis Road and Krishna River Bund. The new route would provide a different experience for participating runners, he added.

Pattabhiram said Swachhathon-2026 was emerging as a unique marathon in the country with cleanliness as its central theme. Every participant would be presented with a medal and a sapling, carrying the message of “Swachh Andhra” and “Green Andhra Pradesh”, he said. Earlier, Pattabhiram, along with a large number of Amaravati Runners, participated in the HDFC Swachhathon-2026 Promo Run on Bandar Road. The runners raised slogans promoting cleanliness, greenery and waste management with the message “Swachh Andhra for Swachh Bharat”, attracting the attention of the public.

HDFC Bank Area Head Vineet Rampe, Nitro Pickle Ball Club Founder Kranthi Gadde, Central Bureau of Communication Assistant Director R Ramesh Chandra, Andhra Cricket Association Treasurer Srinivas Dandamudi, Amaravati Runners President Ramesh Ravi, Aqua Devils President L Rama Krishna, and Vijayawada Runners organisers Tadavarthi Deepak and Bobby Nag were among those who participated. Ramesh Ravi said interested runners could register for the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K categories through the iFinish App by September 30. More than 8,000 registrations had already been received from various States, he added.
