Vijayawada: Poets from 32 countries charm audience with captivating poems
- 162 poets representing 40 languages participating in the global poets meet
- Noted poet K Siva Reddy launches International Poet’s Meet
Vijayawada: Noted poet K Siva Reddy said that poetry is the only means through which the truth is conveyed and poetry binds people across all the barriers.
He inaugurated the sixth international multilingual poets meet—Amaravati Poetic Prism 2020—here on Saturday through virtual mode. Siva Reddy said such meets would kindle harmony worldwide.
As many as 162 poets from 32 countries representing 40 languages participated in the global poets meet. The meet was a treat for the poetry lovers who were listened to the poems of the noted poets spellbound. Dr Y Tejaswini, chairperson of the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati (CCVA), presiding over the inaugural session, said that CCVA in association with Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu (CIIL), Departments of Language and Culture of the two Telugu-speaking States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana jointly organised the event for the 6th time and the anthology brought out reflected the feelings of the poets on environment and ecology the theme of this year.
Padma Shri Vishnu Pandya, chairman of Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, Dr. N. Gopi, former Vice-Chancellor of Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Dr. Papineni Sivasankar, Kendra Sahitya Akademi Awardee, Dr. D. Muniratnam Naidu, Project Director of the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu (CIIL), Mamidi Hari Krishna, director of the Telangana Department of Language & Culture, Dr. Deerghasi Vizaibhaskar, convener of the poets meet and Sandeep Mandava, CEO, Malaxmi Property Realcon, participated in the meet. On the 1st day of the meet, seven poetry sessions were organised in which 75 poets from India and abroad recited their poems in different world languages.
Dr. Sivasankar Papineni, Dr D Srinivasacharya, Dr Vasant Kumar Perla, Rolf Ishvar Doppenberg, Sikhamani Sanjeeva Rao, chaired the sessions.
The poets suggested solutions to the various problems of environment and ecology that impact the earth and mankind. Many of the international poets like Rolf Ishvar Doppenberg said that the breakout session gave them a thrilling experience apart from the reading of their poems.
