Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation demolished the Go Karting centre located at Mangamaripeta on Saturday. The arena belongs to a close associate of Visakhapatnam North MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao and TDP leader Kasi Viswanath.
The officials concerned arrived at the venue and carried out demolition work amid tight security for flouting the norms.
According to the officials concerned, the arena was built violating the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms. However, the Go Karting centre management claimed that the demolition work was carried out without any prior intimation.
The authorities have been demolishing the unauthorised structures across the city in the recent past. They include a portion of former Mayor Sabbam Hari's residence, 40 acre of GITAM Deemed to be University's campus, a restaurant owned by TDP leader Harsha Vardhan in Siripuram, part of Ganta Srinivasa Rao's properties and now Ganta's close associate Kasi Viswanath's Go Karting arena.
