BJP leader Pradeep Rao detained at his house over Assembly protest
Warangal: BJP state leader and Warangal Urban Co-operative Bank chairman Errabelli Pradeep Rao was placed under house arrest on Monday as police sought to prevent him from participating in the party’s “Chalo Assembly” protest over pending student fee reimbursement and scholarship dues.
The agitation was organised at the call of Telangana BJP president N. Ramachander Rao during the ongoing Assembly session. BJP leaders alleged that nearly Rs 15,000 crore in fee reimbursement and scholarship dues remain pending, causing financial difficulties for students, parents and private colleges.
Pradeep Rao criticised the police action, terming house arrests a curb on democratic rights. He demanded that the government immediately clear the arrears and ensure students receive certificates without delay. The BJP said it would continue its agitation until the pending dues are released and students’ concerns are addressed.
