WARANGAL: Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great fervour at New Kautilya Saint Amen High School, located in Kareemabad near the under-railway gate area, on Saturday.

The programme, held in the school premises, was presided over by school correspondent Kodam Sridhar. Headmistress Kodam Sabith attended as the chief guest and delivered the keynote address.

Emphasis on discipline, early rising and yoga

Addressing the gathering, Kodam Sridhar said Teachers’ Day is observed every year on the birth anniversary of former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan to honour the teaching community. He advised students to study with concentration and determination, noting that waking up during Brahma Muhurtham (early morning hours) helps keep the mind calm and improves focus. He also encouraged students to practise yoga and meditation regularly to build good health for the future.

Call to respect parents and teachers

Headmistress Kodam Sabith, in her speech, urged students to take teachers as role models and imbibe good values. She said students should cultivate love, affection, respect and courtesy towards their parents and teachers.

Students honour teachers

On the occasion, students formally honoured their teachers on stage and sought their blessings. Teachers, students and parents participated in the event in large numbers.
