Hanumakonda: Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy urged people to install clay Ganesha idols and contribute to environmental protection. He distributed clay idols at his residential camp office in Balasamudram, Hanumakonda, on Sunday as part of an awareness initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said idols made from plaster of Paris and chemical-based colours take longer to dissolve and can pollute water bodies after immersion. Such pollution can affect aquatic life, water quality and, indirectly, public health, he said.

Naini explained that locally made clay idols dissolve easily in water and, when combined with natural colours, can help reduce pollution. He appealed to people to celebrate the festival while protecting nature and maintaining ecological balance.

He also encouraged parents to teach children environmental responsibility from an early age and make eco-friendly practices a part of every household.
