JNU Professor Accused of Sexual Harassment by 10 Students, ICC Begins Probe

A professor has been accused of sexual harassment by at least 10 students at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) which has launched an investigation into the allegations through its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).

Complaints were made about the inappropriate behaviour, both in and out of class, and were reported about a month ago.

Students were allegedly invited to gatherings at the professor's house on the JNU campus where he allegedly made sexual advances toward them, the complaints said.

The professor has also been accused of making lewd or inappropriate remarks during classes.

It's been alleged but not proven, and the case is being investigated by the university's ICC.

Following the filing of the initial complaint, several senior students reportedly came forward in support of those who raised the allegations.

Some of the students also reported that they had personally witnessed and suffered from comparable incidences of inappropriate conduct from the professor.

The development has been the subject of interest on the campus while the ICC is investigating the complaints and compiling information.

The JNU has yet to make an official statement regarding the issue.

ICC is in the process of its investigation into the allegations. But so far, the JNU administration and office of Vice-Chancellor hasn't made an official statement regarding this.

The university's student body has also yet to issue an update on the complaints or the current investigation.
