New Delhi: NDA Working Chairman L K Advani on Thursday declared that the Telangana Bill may come in the next session of Parliament. Advani expressed the hope of a possibility of a brief session of Parliament soon, as both the Houses were adjourned sine, die but were not prorogued.

Interacting with the media, Advani said, “The Telangana Bill may come in that session.” The BJP has expressed its support to the creation of Telangana. As a result, the BJP is expected to support the formation of Telangana and the party may not stall it in Parliament.

Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj made it clear that there is no change in the party stand. She said, “Let the Telangana Bill come to Parliament.” Sushma Swaraj pointed to deep divisions and dissensions within the Congress, between the Telangana and Seemandhra units, over the Telangana Bill. She expressed doubts, whether or not the Congress can get its act together and manage to bring the Telangana Bill in the next session for being passed in Parliament.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley refused to be drawn into a discussion on the BJP-TDP alliance. “As and when it happens, we will let you know,” he said. However, the BJP is understood to have identified the TDP as the potential ally in Andhra Pradesh. The BJP-TDP alliance is perceived to be mutually beneficial.
