The poor maintenance of Kambala park in Rajamehendravaram is posing problems to the people as well as to the walkers. Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) has put the maintenance of the park on the side-lines.

Daily hundreds of people visit the park both in the morning and evening and some come with their children. Now the number of visitors have reduced due to poor maintenance of the park.

The one and half kilometre length of walking track is in a bad shape. The children's play area is also damaged. The park is full of waste material and heaps of dry grass and coconut leaves in which has become a breeding ground for snakes.

The tank was developed as a park 15 years ago and the corporation maintained it properly for some years and left it in neglect in the due course of time.

A walker KR Rao said the walking track is not good and the aged people are facing problems to walk on it. In the morning times, the foul smell emanates from the tank which is quite unbearable. The tank has not been cleaned for long and so it is now filled with grass and debris. The refreshment stall also is damaged making the park unuseable.

Another walker MK Raju said that he is not bringing his children to the park, as the play material has been fully damaged making it a dreadful play area. There is a threat of snakes in the park area due to the accumulation of dirt. The lighting is also poor in the park, he added. A corporation official added, plans are afoot to maintain the park properly upto the satisfaction of the people.
