A year of Demonetisation

One year ago, on November 9, 2016, Government of India announced the demonetisation (note ban) of all Rs.500 and 1,000 banknotes. The government claimed that the action would curtail the shadow economy and crack down on the use of illicit and counterfeit cash to fund illegal activity and terrorism.

Some people welcomed the government move to restrict black money and some criticised. Many people said that the government failed to unearth the black money.
