Chirala: The stone dragging bull race conducted at the Boyinavaripalem in Chirala mandal left the spectators spellbound on Monday.

As part of the New Year celebrations, the Sri Krishna Yadav Youth in the village organised the race. Former minister Dr Paleti Ramarao and MLC Pothula Suneetha inaugurated the bull race in the afternoon. The organisers announced that the bulls have to drag a stone weighing two quintals up to 10 minutes. The bulls’ pair that dragged the stone for the farthest distance is declared the winner. The organisers allowed a team of five people to lead the bulls in the competition.

The organisers Kondepi Prasad, Boyina Pullaiah, Gorla Poturaju, Nakkala Srinivasarao, Boyina Balaji, Nakkala Srinu said that they offered first, second, third and fourth prizes worth Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,116 respectively with the help of sponsors.
