All-party meet wants decision today

Tirupati: An all-party meeting attended by representatives of the CPI, Congress, Telugu Desam and YSRCP in the CPI (M) office here on Sunday demanded a CBI inquiry into the ’irregularities’ allegedly committed during the Lord’s ‘Kalyanotsavam’ organised by the TTD.

The meeting adopted a resolution and wanted a decision to be taken at the TTD Board meeting scheduled on November 11. It called for immediate intervention by the State government.

Leaders of various parties alleged that irregularities worth crores of rupees were committed in the implementation of the TTD ‘Kalyanotsavam’ Project, as pointed out by the Vigilance report.

This, they contended, gave rise to suspicion on the role of TTD officials and the TTD Board members. They expressed ire that no names were mentioned in the report since TTD bigwigs were allegedly involved in the irregularities.

The leaders questioned why no action was taken against the project coordinator who role was ‘proved’ in the Vigilance report. They expressed ire at the continuance of a close relative of former TTD Executive Office in the post even though he faced allegations of corruption.

The leaders alleged that the TTD Board ‘miserably’ failed to take action in checking ‘corruption’ in the Devasthanams, citing the examples of the ‘Dollar’ and ‘Kalyanotsavam’ scams, when the suspects managed to go scot free. They threatened to intensify the agitation under the aegis of the all-party forum if the TTD Board failed to respond to the alleged irregularities/corruption. Representatives of various parties—Kumar Reddy, Yugandhar, DCM Bhaskar, Prasad, Nagabhushanam and Vada Nagaraju were among those who attended the all-party meeting.
