Hyderabad: While welcoming the Telangana draft bill in the state assembly at the ongoing Assembly session, Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen’s floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi warned that his party would oppose the Telangana Bill if the Centre did not withdraw the special powers it proposed to give the Governor over several issues in the joint capital.

On the second day of his speech, on Tuesday Owaisi said MIM party president Asaduddin Owaisi would propose the amendments in the parliament concerning the common capital issue, retaining of high court and powers of Governor.

He said in such a situation the police become more powerful than the elected government and Telangana Chief Minister. Unlike the rest of the members who have spoken in the debate, Akbaruddin proposed amendments clause wise. As many as 31 amendments to the prevailing draft bill were proposed by the MIM leader.

According to the political analysts, the speech was an impeccable one. All Telangana MLAs virtually welcomed his speech.
