Hyderabad: Stating that digitisation and photocopying of files and records inventory of movable and immovable assets would be completed by April 30, Principal Secretary (Home) T P Das said that the Central government would take up the maintenance and administration of the existing Grey Hounds training centre for a period of three years from June 2, 2014 and a similar state-of-the-art training centre would be set up in the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking at a review meeting with Governor and other officials regarding the division of police forces among the two States on Tuesday, Das said, “A specific time frame was set to take up and complete different key activities in a fair and transparent manner.”

The official proposed tentative sharing of the existing office space available for DGP, Intelligence, CID and APSP by both the successive States and exact details of allocation would be worked out separately.

Detailing on the reorganisation of APSP, Das said it plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order and providing security to vital installations, establishments and to VVIPs. The committee also proposed to include Grey Hounds, Octopus, Special Intelligence Bureau, Counter intelligence, State Crime Records Bureau, Finger Prints Bureau, SPF training centre and other services in the Schedule X of the State Reorganisation Act.

On the AP State Police Housing Corporation Limited, he said that it should be continued to function even after the appointed day and the assets and liabilities of the APSPHCL would be apportioned between the two successor States. The AP Police Academy, the AP Forensic Science Laboratory, AP Fire Service and Civil Defence Training institute and other institutions under Schedule X would continue to provide the same facilities as may be agreed upon between the two State governments within a period of one year, he said.

Meanwhile, Governor ESL Narasimhan said that the police department has to assess the requirement of additional forces in the wake of the State bifurcation in most authentic way.

He said that the division would diminish available resource pool of existing police battalions and the police officials should rise to the occasion to meet the challenges like the growing concern on women’s safety and the security needs of IT industry in Cyberabad area.

Chief Secretary PK Mohanty, DGP Prasada Rao, senior police officers J V Ramudu, M Mahender Reddy and others attended the meeting.
