Hyderabad: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is in a state of shock over its MP-elects shifting loyalties to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) within 10 days of the election results. With the joining of the Nandyal MP-elect MP S P Y Reddy and the announcement of another newly elected MP from Kurnool, Butta Renuka, that she would support the TDP, the YSRCP leadership is left wondering as what made these two MP-elects switch sides even before taking oath.

According to insiders, party chief Jaganmohan Reddy has not yet taken a call on the sudden developments in the party. Even when some senior leaders tried to discuss the issue with him, he is learnt to have avoided it and maintained silence.

The YSRCP sources say that he has not even asked any senior leader to talk to these two newly elected MPs and find out what their grouse was. However, he is understood to have expressed his unhappiness over the ‘poaching’ the leaders from his party by the TDP.

All that he told the party leaders was that he would soon hold a meeting with all the party newly elected MLAs and MPs to discuss the issue.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP MLA-elect G Srikanth Reddy and MP-elect P Mithun Reddy alleged that SPY Reddy joined the TDP only for his business interests and not for the sake of development as claimed by him.

Srikanth Reddy said that the TDP was indulging in mind games and was even spreading rumours that he was likely to join BJP. Scotching such rumours, he said no one contacted him and that even if anyone approached him he would not desert the YSRCP.
