Medak Collector turns emotional at T formation day function

• Interacts with martyrs’ families
• Honours 46 heroes’ family members
• New govt. should rescue them: Srikantha chary’s father

Sangareddy: Medak Collector Smita Sabharwal on Monday turned emotional during the Telangana State Formation Day celebrations at Police Parade Grounds here.

She was seen shedding tears several times while interacting with the family members of 46 Telangana martyrs, whom she honoured. Seeing her, some members of these families broke down.

After garlanding the Telugu Talli statue, the Collector unfurled the national flag and performed special pooja, amid chanting of vedic hymns by priests. Father of martyr Srikantachary, who was among those present, observed that many, like his son, had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana. He said it was the new State government’s duty to provide relief to the martyrs’ families. Medak SP Shamushi Bajpayee, Additional SP Madanmohan Reddy, Joint Collector Sharath, TNGOs’ Association and TJAC leaders Murthy and Rajender were present.

The T formation day celebrations continued till Monday morning. Stalls on welfare schemes were put up in the Parade Grounds. ‘Bathukamma’ and ‘Bonalu’ were organised.

The celebrations were held on a grand scale in TRS chief KCR’s native place Siddipet, with hoisting of the tricolor in all government offices, government and private educational institutions. The party leaders burst crackers to celebrate KCR taking over as Chief Minister of Telangana and his nephew T Harish Rao’s induction in the Cabinet.

TJAC, TNGOs’ Association, Teachers’ Joint Action Committee, various people’s organisations, Telangana writers and artists also organised the celebrations.

1969 agitators honoured

In the celebration at Vikarabad, in Ranga Reddy district, the Sub-collector hoisted the flag. In Dharur mandal, villagers honoured the 1969 separatist agitators, who expressed happiness over the formation of Telangana.

Blood donation camp held

In Nalgonda, Collector T Chiranjeevulu hoisted the tricolor in the Police Parade Grounds, as part of the celebrations. SP Prabhakar Rao, local MLA K Venkat Reddy, MP G Sukhender Reddy attended. The day was celebrated in the offices of the Congress, TDP, CPI, CPM.

Benefits distributed

At the celebrations in the Police Parade Grounds, Mahabubnagar Collector M Girija Shankar honoured several freedom fighters. He distributed benefits to people, including Rs.119.4-crore bank linkages.
