AP nominees for Padma awards
The Andhra Pradesh government has nominated noted film director Bapu (Sattiraju Lakshminarayana for the coveted Padma Vibhushan award, posthumously.
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has nominated noted film director Bapu (Sattiraju Lakshminarayana for the coveted Padma Vibhushan award, posthumously. This is in recognition of his services to the Telugu Cinema, in particular, and Indian Cinema in general. Bapu was awarded the Padma Shri, for his contribution to Indian Cinema in 2013. Among other names recommended to the Centre for Padma Vibhushan are Nori Dattatreyudu, noted oncologist and D Nageswar Reddy, noted gastroenterologist. For Padma Bhushan, the State government nominated Carnatic vocalist Nedunuri Krishna Murthy, Sanskrit scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao and Lok Sabha member and veteran film actor Maganti Murali Mohan.
It is learnt that noted cartoonist N Sridhar (Eenadu), former IAS officer Mohan Kanda, senior journalist I Venkat Rao and prominent Kuchipudi artiste Pasumarthy Rattaiah Sharma are among those who are nominated for Padma Shri awards by the AP government.
