For the effective implementation of the ‘Power For All’ (PFA) scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday appointed energy expert K Ranganatham as Advisor to the Energy Department. The newly-appointed Advisor would also deal with the issues related to the APTRANSCO and the functioning of power utilities.

Hyderabad: For the effective implementation of the ‘Power For All’ (PFA) scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday appointed energy expert K Ranganatham as Advisor to the Energy Department. The newly-appointed Advisor would also deal with the issues related to the APTRANSCO and the functioning of power utilities. State Energy Secretary Ajay Jain and APGENCO and Transco Chairman and Managing Director K Vijayanand congratulated the former official for being appointed as the first advisor of the State Energy Department.

Ranganatham, who joined in the erstwhile APSEB (AP State Electricity Board) as Junior Engineer, Electrical in 1963, worked in various capacities in the State before retiring from the service in 2012. He was appointed as Director (Projects and Distribution) in May 1999 in APTRANSCO after the introduction of reforms in power sector. Subsequently.

He was appointed as the first Managing Director of APSPDCL in 2000 and was later made Chairman and Managing Director of the APSPDCL. Centre's Appellate Tribunal for Electricity also appointed Ranganatham as the Special Officer, in-charge of monitoring the DISCOMs in the field of energy and placing the DISCOMs at the command, management, administration and control in Orissa in 2006.

The tribunal has placed on record their appreciation of his valuable services and bringing the Discoms on the path towards financial viability. He volunteered his services during restoration of normalcy in power sector during recent Hudhud cyclone in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram.
