Govt plans Kuchipudi dance in school curriculum

Inaugurating a Kuchipudi dance recital programme organized under the aegis of the World Telugu Forum (Prapancha Telugu Samakhya) in the town on Saturday, he said that the government has allocated Rs 100 crore for popularizing and spreading Kuchipudi, the world over.

Nellore: Minister for Human Resources Development, Ganta Srinivas Rao, said that the state government was mulling over the inclusion of Kuchipudi dance form in the school syllabus and provide quality education. Inaugurating a Kuchipudi dance recital programme organized under the aegis of the World Telugu Forum (Prapancha Telugu Samakhya) in the town on Saturday, he said that the government has allocated Rs 100 crore for popularizing and spreading Kuchipudi, the world over.

The Minister said that the state government would be in the forefront to preserve and protect the Telugu language, literature and culture. He said that the Prapancha Telugu Samakhya and the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) would jointly set up a science museum near the Kailasagiri Hill in Visakhapatnam at a cost of Rs 12 crore. The state government would invite either the President of India or the Prime Minister to inaugurate it.

Ganta Srinivas Rao said that they were trying to introduce educational reforms in the state. He said that seven national level educational institutes would be set up in the state for which foundation stones for three of them were already laid. Test centres for taking the EAMCET exam for Andhra Pradesh students would be set up in Hyderabad and they have taken permission from the Telangana State government.

The Minister lashed out at the Opposition parties for criticising the State government when it accorded a grand welcome to Acharya Jaggi Vasudev when he visited Vijayawada. He advised the Opposition parties to cooperate with the government in the interests of the people of the state. They should not oppose projects like the Pattiseema which would serve the interests of the people of the state. District Collector M Janaki was also present on the occasion.
