Vijayawada: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh government here on Tuesday completed questioning of telecom service providers on phone tapping charge against Telangana State government. The SIT officials questioned the representatives of the telecom service providers for eight hours on the second day at the Bhavanipuram police station in the city.

The questioning of the telecom operators began on Monday where the SIT officers collected information from four telecom operators. On the second day on Tuesday, the SIT officials collected information from six more operators. According to the sources, the service providers had denied the charges of phone tapping.

They reportedly told the investigating officials that they had not received neither oral nor written requests from the TS government for tapping the mobile numbers of any of the Ministers or leaders of Andhra Pradesh government. The operators, however, are understood to have told the SIT that the TS government had asked for call data of some mobile phones.

The operators said they were legally obliged to part with call data on the request of the government. Meanwhile, the AP government is exploring several options to prove mobile tapping charges against the TS government. The government is reportedly collecting the call data of some of the senior IPS officers in Telangana State government whose role is a suspect in this episode.
