The three TDP leaders held captive by the Maoists were finally released safely in the agency area of Visakhapatnam district on Thursday morning.
The three TDP leaders identified as district committee executive member M Mahesh and Janmabhoomi committee member M Balaiah and TDP GK Veedhi mandal unit president V Balaiah were abducted by Maoists on October 5.
The Maoists had demanded an immediate ban on bauxite mining in the state border area. They threatened extreme action if the government failed to meet their demand. But Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that currently the bauxite mining was not his focus area.
