Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation will screen popular Telugu film classics from Dec 24 to Jan 15, at the Kotilingala Pushkar ghat on a giant screen

The Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation (RMC) will screen old Telugu film classics on a giant screen at the longest bathing ghat, Kotilingala ghat, its Commissioner V Vijayarama Raju has said. The film screening will begin on December 24 and will continue up to January 15, 2016. As per the schedule, the programme will kick-start with the screening of popular classic ‘Bhookailas’ on December 24. On December 25, Vijayachander’s classic ‘Karunamayudu’ will be screened.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, the Commissioner said that they wanted to reach out to film buffs and tourists who visit Rajahmundry for Christmas and Sankranthi vacations. “The idea behind this is to provide relief to film buffs and tourists by screening these classics in open-air on the banks of river Godavari,” he said. He also pointed out that he had received several complaints of the ghat being misused after Pushkarams in many ways, particularly people in the vicinity are using it for open defecation despite warnings from civic authorities.
The movie extravaganza which will continue till January 15, 2016, will also screen some of the popular classics like Chikkadu-Dorakadu on December 26, Thodi Kodalu (December 27) and Pandava Vanvasam (December 28) and several other classics.
