Visakhapatnam: The district administration is preparing to shift Tadi village under Paravada mandal which has been facing severe pollution from the Pharma city. Collector Dr N Yuvaraj convened a meeting with Pendurthy MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, village heads and revenue officials in this regard here on Saturday.

The Collector suggested to the officials to conduct bio-metric survey to get a head count of the population so that accordingly houses and other infrastructure could be built.

The Collector said that the government was ready to protect the villagers from the pollution and take all measures for their well being.

He said if the villagers came forward with concrete proposals, the district administration will plan accordingly for relocation and make plans for their future.

The Collector suggested that huge chunk of land was available at Pedamushidivada and if the villagers were willing, they could be shifted there. He asked tahsildar K Malleswara Rao to mark boundaries in the suggested land in Pedamushidivada and asked him to take the villagers for sightseeing.

If the villagers agree on the site, the district administration would estimate the extent of land to be given to each family, amount of compensation for relocation, how to develop the rehabilitation colony and under which scheme houses to be allocated and send proposals to the government for approval.

MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy suggested to the Collector to select assigned land instead of private land so that the rehabilitation scheme could be grounded quickly without any delay.

The MLA took the responsibility of convincing the villagers and announced that he would sanction 200 additional houses under his quota.

Joint Collector J Niwas, Paravada ZTPC Pyla Jagannadha Rao, MPP Pyla Appala Naidu and sarpanch B Appa Rao were present at the meeting.
