Petitioners from various parts of the district have thronged to the Collectorate and submitted their petitions in the weekly grievance cell held

Chittoor: Petitioners from various parts of the district have thronged to the Collectorate and submitted their petitions in the weekly grievance cell held here on Monday. The Joint Collector 2 P Venkata Subbaiah and DWMA Project Director Venugopala Reddy have received petitions from petitioners as District Collector Siddharth Jain was busy with some other work. The police and staff at the Collectorate had a tough time controlling the petitioners.

As per the instructions of the District Collector, all the district heads have attended the weekly grievance cell. More than 120 outsourced employees working in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) have submitted a memorandum to the Joint Collector to instruct SSA Project Officer for continuing them in services as they were terminated. In the petition, they sought regularisation of their services as they were been working for the last 15 years.

The Joint Collector called upon SSA PO S Lakshmi to know as to why outsourced employees were terminated from services. The PO informed the Joint Collector that it was the decision of the government to remove them from services. She said they have failed to clear the written test which was conducted for renewing their contract. She further said decision of removing outsourced employees from services was taken by the District Collector.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Monday, the Joint Collector has expressed surprise over the large number of petitioners coming from far off places and submitting their petitions in the Collectorate. He pointed out that the District Collector had decentralised the functioning of the grievance cell as Prajavani programmes are being organised in mandal headquarters also. Venkata Subbaiah made it clear that tahsildars concerned have to instill confidence among the petitioners by resolving their issues at mandal-level. It is learnt that the Joint Collector alone has examined 110 petitions during the grievance cell.
