Visakhapatnam: GITAM University and IT giant Tata Consultancy Services Limited signed an MoU here on Saturday at the university in a bid to bridge the gap between campus and corporate and thereby enhancing the employability of emerging workforce. The MoU was signed by TCS vice-president V Rajanna and GITAM University Registrar Prof M Potharaju in the presence of GITAM Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao and others.
While signing the MoU, TCS vice-president Rajanna said that India’s most admired corporate group TATA and TCS has been involved in strengthening the academic community around the world through TCS-Academic Interface Programme (AIP) particularly AIP has been involved in various programmes to bridge the gap between campus and corporate.
He disclosed that TCS is decided to encourage the students with remote internship training opportunities, student awards, workshops for students, faculty development programmes and campus placements. He appreciated the GITAM University alumni who are performing well in TCS in different positions. He said that remote internship programme is successfully implemented by TCS in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and advised the student community to concentrate more on latest digital technologies, cloud skills before entering into IT industry.
GITAM University Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao said that the university is actively associated with TCS to enhance the IT knowledge. He mentioned that around 4,000 GITAM alumni are working with TCS and felt that the present MoU will give a big support to Amaravati to widen the opportunities.GITAM Institute of Technology principal Prof K Lakshmiprasad, UGC Affairs Director Prof Ch Ramakrishna, placements wing director Gurumoorthy Gangadharan were present during the signing of MoU.
