Reviewing implementation of NREGS works in Atmakur, the MLA asked the Indira Kranti Patham, District Water Management Agency, Panchayat Raj, Rural water supply department officials to make public their reports on the extent of utilisation of funds, plans for implementing development programmes and the progress achieved.

He also wanted the extent of funds spent under the MLA’s constituency development programme. He expressed dissatisfaction over reports submitted by the MPDOs, the engineers, the APOs and the field assistants of Atmakur, Srisailam, Velugodu, Bandi Atmakur and Mahanandi mandals.

Some sarpanches in mandals complained to the MLA that the officials are not even bothering to lay a kacha road in some villages. The MPDOs and the APOs diverted the issue when farmers raised problems at the meeting.

The MLA was incensed at Atmakur Indira Kranti Patham assistant project officer Pullaiah misleading the district officials submitting false reports. The MLA noted that not even 50 per cent of the targets were met. Some of the MPTCs, the sarpanches did not attend the meeting as a TDP MLC pressurised them not to attend the meeting.

Elected people’s representatives complained to the MLA that the officials of the Rural Water Supply department are gobbling up the NREGS funds and submitting doctored accounts. District Water Management Agency additional project director Lakshmanna and assistant project manager Nageswara Rao participated.
