Varalakshmi Vratam celebrated with religious fervour in the temple town of Tiruchanur on Friday. The Archakas commenced Varalakshmi Vratam by chanting the 108 sacred names of goddess.

Tirupati: Varalakshmi Vratam celebrated with religious fervour in the temple town of Tiruchanur on Friday. Padmavathi Devi, the ‘Goddess of Riches’ seated elegantly in all her divine splendour on a specially decked floral and illuminated platform at Asthana Mandapam here. The Archakas commenced Varalakshmi Vratam by chanting the 108 sacred names of goddess.

  • Goddess Padmavathi Devi dons the avathar of Sarvaphalapradayani at Tiruchanur temple
  • Devotees throng to temple to witness the celestial fete

The Vrata kankanam is also performed. This kankanam is the sacred thread consisting nine threads. Later, Vrata Katha was rendered. The devotees, who thronged to witness the celestial fete, were enthralled by the divine beauty of Padmavathi Devi.
On the celestial occasion of Varalakshmi Vratam, the presiding deity was draped in the precious stones studded golden sari.

The pilgrims thronged in large numbers to the temple, to witness goddess in special alankaram which is a very rare visual treat. TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal, Tirupati JEO P Bhaskar, CVSO A Ravikrishna, temple Special Grade Deputy EO P Munirathnam Reddy and others were also present.

In Tirupati city, Varalakshmi Vratam was celebrated at local goddess temples like Gangamma, Kalika Ammavaru and Chamundeswari. On the occasion, all the temples were overcrowded with women devotees for goddess darshan.
