Rajamahendravaram: Deputy superintendent of police (urban district traffic wing) V V Ramana Kumar has said that a weeklong road safety week will be conducted from February 3 to February 9 in the urban district.

Speaking to reporters at traffic police station here on Friday, he said stakeholders of road such as APSRTC, transport department, National Highways, Roads and Buildings department will participate in the programme. The programme was aimed to create awareness among the people on road safety rules.

The inaugural function will be held at SV Function Hall on February 3 followed by walkthon on February 4, traffic awareness programme on February 5, free eye camp on February 6, a rally with 50 school buses held on February 7, human chain will be formed on February 8 in front of all police stations and the concluding programme will be held at Pushkar Ghat on February 9.

Drivers of autos, taxis, school buses, NSS and NCC volunteers, NGOs, advocates, doctors and students will participate in the weeklong programme. APSRTC Rajamahendravaram depot manager P Peddi Raju, deputy superintendent of police Bharat Mataji, motor vehicle inspector Sainadh, traffic inspectors Satyanarayana and Srinivas were present.
