Vijayawada: The leaders of casual announcers’ association of All India Radio (AIR) in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana demanded the Union government to regularise their services. Union president R Chandrasekhar Reddy said that the casual announcers have been working in the AIR for the last 40 years.

He said the government was removing the casual announcers in the name of screening test. Union general secretary Chinta Lakshmi Sujatha said the government was removing contract announcers illegally without filling vacancies for the last several years. She asked the government to regularise their services.

AIR Vijayawada unit secretary Kongitala Srinivasa Rao, treasurer Adusumilli Mohan, other leaders K Madhusudan and K Ashok Kumar were also present.
