Heavy rain recorded in five coastal districts

Amaravati: Heavy rainfall was recorded at several places in the State on Sunday and Monday due to Cyclone Phethai. According to official sources, at about 50 places in the State more than 100 mm rainfall was recorded. And 90 mm rainfall was reported at 35 places.
According to the data released by the AP State Development Planning Society (APSDPS), Injaram in Thallarevu mandal in East Godavari district received more than 168 mm rainfall during the last two days. On Monday alone, rain of 120 mm was recorded and on Sunday it received 48.5 mm rainfall.
Uppalaguptam in East Godavari district recorded second highest rainfall in the State due to the impact of the cyclone. It got 118.3 mm on Monday and 49.3 mm on Sunday and the cumulative rainfall recorded is 167.5 mm, according to the officials. Aryavatam at Kajuluru mandal in East Godavari witnessed third highest cumulative downpour of 155.5 mm.
On Monday itself it received 114.5 mm and on Sunday 41 mm. Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam district received the fourth highest rainfall of 154.5 mm. Rainfall recorded on Monday was 113 mm and on Sunday 41.5 mm. Above 20 mm rainfall was reported at around 450 places across the Phethai affected districts in the State during the last two days.
Though the rainfall gradually decreases after the cyclone crossed the coast, still the officials have said that moderate showers would continue. The mandals including Pachipenta in Vizianagaram (147.8), G Loduru in Krishna district (141.5), Visakhapatnam mandal (127.3), Ananthagiri in Visakhapatnam (125), Pachipenta in Vizianagaram (123.5), Krishna urban (123.3), Visakhapatnam urban (122.3), Nandigama in Krishna (122), Nathavaram in Visakhapatnam (119), Pittalavanipalem in Guntur (118.8), Penamaluru in Krishna (116.5), Duggirala in Guntur (116) and others got more than 110 mm rainfall during the last couple of days.
